A device for collecting atmospheric water includes a condensation chamber having a light-transmissive upper surface and a water outlet. The apparatus further includes an atmospheric water collecting chamber disposed below the condensation chamber, the atmospheric water collecting chamber containing an atmospheric water collecting material and having a bottom surface with an opening to receive ambient air and a top surface, the top surface has an opening to allow atmospheric water trapped from ambient air to enter the condensation chamber by heat generated by the atmospheric water collecting material due to solar radiation onto the light-transmissive upper surface of the condensation chamber.
