The invention relates to a process for producing artificial aggregate from mine dam tailings. The method comprises the following steps: mixing iron ore tailing sand with an adhesive, and carrying out mixing and granulation to form the artificial aggregate. The produced artificial aggregate has spherical appearance, large particle size, rough surface and unequal color from pink to dark red. The artificial aggregate can replace natural aggregate, is used for manufacturing concrete with higher strength, is suitable for a base layer and a subbase layer of a road, can be used as a decorative element of a garden and a flower bed, and also can be used as a way for storing mine dam tailings in a pellet particle form, so that the value of the tailings is increased, and the influence of mining on the environment is reduced.
