An air gap adapter for use with a water treatment faucet is constructed and arranged to be mounted in a standard mesa faucet opening. The adapter includes an adapter base having an underside, defining a base through-hole for a standard faucet inlet fitting, having an RO retentate inlet port and a separate RO retentate outlet port. The tapered insert has a platform covering at least a portion of the base, and a tapered structure vertically protruding from the platform and in fluid communication with the inlet port. The outlet opening is in fluid communication with the outlet port on the tapered structure. An adapter cover disposed over the tapered insert and the base includes a tapered cover portion and a base cover portion and a cover through-hole aligned with the through-hole. The adapter is constructed and arranged to be selectively mounted to a tabletop having a faucet.
