The embodiment of the invention provides a novel sepiolite wall thermal insulation material and a preparation method thereof. Comprising the following components in parts by weight: 1.2 to 2.5 parts of a first adhesive, 0.1 to 0.4 part of a thixotropic agent, 0.2 to 0.4 part of cellulose ether, 0.06 to 0.2 part of starch ether, 0.2 to 0.4 part of a second adhesive, 0.02 to 0.04 part of an air entraining agent, 1 to 2 parts of an active enhancer, 3 to 5 parts of sepiolite powder, 20 to 35 parts of glass beads, 0.2 to 0.4 part of wood fibers, 0.1 to 0.15 part of polypropylene fibers and 0.2 to 0.4 part of an organic silicon water repellent, 10-15 parts of quartz sand, 50-55 parts of cement and 5-10 parts of hollow floating beads. The external wall heat insulation layer formed by the heat insulation material is small in heat conductivity coefficient, good in heat insulation performance and capable of effectively reducing building energy consumption.
