The invention relates to a building material, in particular to a red mud sintered aggregate. The red mud sintered aggregate is characterized by comprising the following raw materials in percentage by mass: 50-90% of red mud, 1-10% of a fluxing agent, 1-5% of an adhesive, 1-15% of a foaming agent, 3-18% of a silica-alumina ratio regulator and 1-15% of a reinforcing agent. According to the red mud sintered aggregate provided by the invention, the sintered aggregate with high cylinder compressive strength and low water absorption rate is prepared by taking red mud as a main raw material and adding additives such as a silica-alumina ratio regulator, a fluxing agent and a reinforcing agent.
