The invention discloses an asphalt loose paving thickness and paving temperature detection device and a working method thereof.The device comprises a pressing rod, the top end of the pressing rod is fixedly connected with a grip, the bottom end of the pressing rod is in sliding fit in a sleeve in a non-disengaging mode, the bottom end of the pressing rod is fixedly connected with a temperature probe extending downwards, and the grip is provided with a thermometer with a display function and a range finder; a sensing line of the thermometer extends to the temperature probe in the pressing rod, the temperature probe can stretch out of and retract into the sleeve when the pressing rod slides along the sleeve, balance plates are hinged to the two sides of the bottom end of the outer portion of the sleeve, and the range finder directly faces the balance plates when the balance plates are unfolded. The asphalt loose paving thickness and the paving temperature can be accurately detected at the same time, workers are prevented from being scalded, the thermometer and the range finder directly display, and errors caused by dark light are avoided.
