The railway engineering machine includes a machine frame (24) having two opposing longitudinal ends (126, 128) and an intermediate portion (125) connecting the opposing longitudinal ends (126, 128), and a working shuttle (18), a volume (25) being formed below the intermediate portion (125) of the machine frame (24) to accommodate at least part of the working shuttle (18). The shuttle frame (38) is movable relative to the machine frame (24) between two end-of-travel positions. Longitudinal locking systems (66, 68) allow for securing the mechanical frame (24) to the shuttle frame (38) in the travel position. The longitudinal locking system (66, 68) comprises a first locking device (66) and a second locking device (68), the first locking device (66) locks a first longitudinal end (126) of the two longitudinal ends and the shuttle frame (38) together, and the second locking device (38) locks the shuttle frame (38) and a second longitudinal end (128) of the two longitudinal ends together.
