The hydraulic system controller may determine a maximum effective circuit pressure for a set of effective hydraulic circuits (220) of a hydraulic system (200), wherein the hydraulic system includes a hydraulic pump (202) to flow fluid through the set of effective hydraulic circuits; determining the loop pressure of a hydraulic loop of the hydraulic system; determining a desired loop delta pressure for the hydraulic loop based on a hydraulic flow command for the hydraulic loop and the loop pressure; determining a loop valve setting for a loop valve (222) of the hydraulic loop based on the desired loop delta pressure and a pressure difference between the maximum effective loop pressure and the loop pressure; and causing a control device (340) to set the position of the loop valve (222) in accordance with the loop valve setting.
