The invention relates to a building product, a building material and a manufacturing method of the building product and the building material. Specifically, a building product comprises a particulate material and a binder comprising steel slag. A method of making a building product includes combining a particulate material and a binder and then curing the combined particulate material and binder with carbon dioxide. A building material comprising a mixture of steel slag and a silica-rich material, the steel slag and the silica-rich material being heat treated. The silica-rich material may be waste glass and/or fly ash. A method of manufacturing a building material comprising mixing steel slag and a silica-rich material; and further heating the mixture.
