The invention relates to a facade system for buildings, in particular an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) comprising thermal and/or acoustic insulation, said system consisting of at least one insulation element which is a bonded mineral fibre product made of mineral fibres, preferably rock wool fibres, and a cured aqueous binder composition, wherein the insulation element is fixed to the outer surface of the building by means of a mechanical fastening element and/or an adhesive and is covered with a painting layer, and wherein the pre-curing aqueous adhesive composition comprises one or more components (i) in the form of oxidized lignin, one or more components (ii) in the form of a cross-linking agent, one or more components (iii) in the form of a plasticizer, and one or more components (iii) in the form of a filler. And wherein the insulation element has a bulk density of between 70 kg/m3 and 150 kg/m3.
