The invention discloses light plastering gypsum and application thereof, and relates to application of the light plastering gypsum in building coatings. The thermal insulation and heat preservation plate is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 650 to 700 parts of desulfurized gypsum, 60 to 70 parts of expanded perlite, 50 to 70 parts of glass beads, 10 to 15 parts of fly ash, 25 to 35 parts of basalt fibers, 3 to 5 parts of expanded vermiculite, 0.5 to 1.5 parts of a retarder and 0.2 to 0.5 part of a water-retaining agent. The light plastering gypsum is applied to the building coating, and compared with traditional plastering gypsum, the light plastering gypsum has the advantages of being durable, large in bonding force, not prone to pulverization, free of cracking, free of hollowing and free of powder falling, and is environmentally friendly and safe.
