The invention discloses an assembly type operation platform attached to the top of a steel pipe column and an attachment method of the assembly type operation platform. The assembly type operation platform comprises a #-shaped attachment bottom frame formed by erecting two transverse rods and two longitudinal rods, and a platform plate covering and laid on the top of the #-shaped attachment bottom frame. An opening is formed in the area, corresponding to a #-shaped opening of the #-shaped attachment bottom frame, of the platform plate; a first telescopic piece is connected between the two transverse rods, a second telescopic piece is connected between the two longitudinal rods, and the two transverse rods and the two longitudinal rods are movably provided with connecting pieces used for being connected to the top edge of a steel pipe column. The device is suitable for steel pipe columns with various pipe diameters and is more practical.
