The invention relates to a method for preparing Ti2AlC ceramic and a composite material thereof, in particular to a method for preparing Ti2AlC ceramic and a composite material thereof through combination of combustion synthesis and hot pressed sintering. The invention aims to solve the problem that a preparation method for applying Ti2AlC ceramic and a composite material thereof to the field of wear-resistant materials such as high-speed rail brake pads does not exist at present. The preparation method comprises the following steps: step 1, preparing high-purity Ti2AlC ceramic powder by adopting a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis technology; and 2, preparing the block Ti2AlC ceramic-based composite material by adopting a powder metallurgy hot pressing sintering process. The invention belongs to the technical field of powder metallurgy.
