The invention relates to a self-cleaning type bridge expansion joint structure which comprises a bridge body and an expansion joint formed in the bridge body, a push plate is arranged in the expansion joint, a storage cavity communicated with the bridge body is formed in the position, relative to the lower portion of the expansion joint, of the bridge body, and a push rod used for pushing the push plate to slide in the expansion joint in a reciprocating mode is further arranged in the bridge body. The material pushing mechanism is used for pushing garbage in the expansion joint into the storage cavity; the material pushing mechanism comprises a plurality of water storage tanks which are located below the expansion joint and arranged in the length direction of the expansion joint, the storage cavity communicates with the water storage tank at the end, and an inverted-U-shaped communicating pipeline communicates between every two adjacent water storage tanks; the material pushing mechanism further comprises a floating ball located in the water storage tank closest to the storage cavity, the section of the floating ball is equal to the section of the communicating pipeline, a pull wire is arranged on the floating ball, and the pull wire firstly penetrates into the storage cavity, then penetrates out of the storage cavity and is arranged on the push plate.
