The present disclosure provides a locking mechanism for a slidable vehicle door. An assembly for a vehicle includes a first door and a second door movable from an open position to a closed position. The assembly includes a first locking member supported by a first door, the first locking member movable along a first axis to a raised position and a lowered position. The assembly includes a second locking member supported by a second door, the second locking member movable along a second axis transverse to the first axis. The first locking member is lockingly engaged with the second locking member when the second locking member is in the extended position and the first locking member is in one of a lowered position or a raised position. The first locking member is disengaged from the second locking member when the second locking member is in the retracted position and the first locking member is in the other of the lowered position or the raised position.
