The invention discloses an assembly type rectangular pavement slab joint connecting structure for an airport runway. A pavement slab comprises a slab body, a dovetail groove, a steel plate layer and a tenon belt; a dovetail groove is formed in the central axis of the outer side wall of the plate body; the dovetail groove transversely extends along the plate body, a groove opening of the dovetail groove is formed in the side wall of the plate body, and the width of the groove bottom of the dovetail groove is larger than that of the groove opening of the dovetail groove; the steel plate layer is laid on the inner side wall of the dovetail groove; and notches of the dovetail grooves of the adjacent plate bodies are aligned. According to the structure, the shrinkage deformation of the pavement slab body caused by temperature or load change is resisted through the limiting of the dovetail groove and the tenon belt, meanwhile, the good load transmission capacity is achieved, and it is ensured that the overall stability of the assembly type pavement slab meets the use requirement of an airfield pavement.
