Provided is a reflective coating composition for traffic signs, comprising: (1) a film-forming component, based on the total weight of the film-forming component, the film-forming component comprising 30 wt%-50 wt% of an acrylic resin, 5 wt%-15 wt% of a pigment and 40 wt%-60 wt% of a filler; the light reflecting component is glass beads, the weight ratio of the film forming component to the light reflecting component ranges from 1: 2 to 2: 1, and the film forming component and the light reflecting component are independently packaged and used in a combined mode and are not mixed in advance before being used. A method for preparing the reflective coating composition and a method for forming a reflective sign are also provided.
