The invention relates to the technical field of coating materials, in particular to a method for preparing a ceramic coating on a metal matrix, which comprises the following steps of: preparing the ceramic coating on the metal matrix by adopting a sol-gel method, putting the metal matrix into silicon oxide sol, silicon oxide-titanium oxide composite sol or silicon oxide hybrid sol, soaking for 1-1.5 minutes, and drying to obtain the ceramic coating on the metal matrix. And vertically pulling out from the sol at a constant speed of 0.8-1mm/s, airing at room temperature until the surface is dry, drying in a drying oven at the temperature of 100-110 DEG C for 20-30 minutes, performing heat treatment, and then performing air cooling, thereby obtaining the ceramic coating on the metal substrate. Wherein when the sol is silicon oxide sol or silicon oxide-titanium oxide composite sol, the heat treatment is performed for 1-2 hours at the temperature of 200-300 DEG C; and when the sol is the silicon oxide hybrid sol, the heat treatment is carried out at 100-150 DEG C for 1-2 hours.
