The invention discloses intelligent cleaning equipment which comprises a traction system, a submerged slurry pump, a coal slime screening and filter pressing mechanism, a coal slime thickness tester and a PLC, and further discloses a water sump cleaning method for cleaning coal slime at the bottom of a water sump through the intelligent cleaning equipment. The intelligent, automatic and mechanical line production of coal slime pumping, dewatering and loading is realized, the cleaning efficiency is improved, and the labor intensity of workers is reduced; coarse-particle coal slime is completely recycled, water obtained after coal slime separation is basically free of pollution, the water content of coal slime cakes is low, and secondary pollution to the environment is reduced. The water sump is cleaned according to the thickness of the coal slime, so that the intelligent, automatic, attended and unmanned operation is realized, the multi-person centralized cleaning operation is changed into a one-two-person, frequent and short-time attended mode, the coal slime inflow of the submerged slurry pump section is reduced, and the maintenance period of the submerged slurry pump is prolonged; and personnel do not need to enter the water sump for operation, so that dangers endangering personal safety, such as gushing, sludge collapse and the like, are eliminated.
