A balance weight device with a rope breakage detection function comprises a plurality of balance weight units, each balance weight unit comprises two balance weights and a detection plate, the two sides of the upper portion of each detection plate are each provided with a taper sleeve, the bottoms of the taper sleeves are hinged to the detection plates, the tops of the taper sleeves are connected with the end of a steel wire rope, and the top of each steel wire rope is connected with the corresponding detection plate. The two sides of the lower portion of the detection plate are each provided with a balance weight, and the tops of the balance weights are hinged to the detection plate. Each counterweight unit is provided with a detection unit, the detection unit comprises a proximity switch and an induction block, the proximity switch and the induction block are fixedly arranged on the two counterweight blocks in the same counterweight unit respectively, and the detection end of the proximity switch is arranged right opposite to the induction block. According to the design, the breakage condition of the steel wire rope can be monitored and early warned at low cost.
