The invention provides a locking device of an iron cover for a manhole, which can quickly release pressure in a pipeline when the cover floats up due to pressure rise in a sewer pipeline, can restrain the floating height of the cover, and can stabilize the posture when the cover floats up. The locking device is characterized by comprising a lock main body which is arranged on the lower surface of the peripheral edge part of the cover and is provided with at least one hook; a recessed part which is formed on the upper surface of the cover and has an engagement part that engages with a hook for opening the cover; a hook seat which is formed at the lower part of the peripheral wall of the receiving frame and is engaged with the hook; the lock body is provided with: a shaft support part having a shaft parallel to the lower surface of the cover; a pressing portion located on the peripheral edge portion side of the cover with respect to the shaft support portion; a hook abutting surface abutting against the hook is formed on the upper surface of the pressing part, an inclined part is formed on the lower surface, opposite to the hook abutting surface, of the cover, and when the hook and the hook base are clamped, the hook abutting surface and the upper surface of the bearing frame are located at the same height, and when the hook and the hook base are clamped, the hook abutting surface and the upper surface of the bearing frame are located at the same height. The lock body itself is rotatably attached about the shaft support portion.
