The invention relates to a self-propelled cleaning machine, comprising a chassis (12), a passenger area (32) arranged on the chassis (12), at least one cleaning roller (52) and a dirt collection container device (68) which is arranged such that it can be moved relative to the chassis (12) via a holding device (70), the dirt collection container device (68) having at least one first position (124) and one second position (140) relative to the chassis (12), and the cleaning roller (52) being arranged such that it can be moved relative to the chassis (12) via the holding device (70). During operation of the cleaning machine, in a first position (124), waste is conveyed to the dirt collection container device (68) by the at least one cleaning roller (52), and in a second position (140), the dirt collection container device (68) can be emptied at a high position, and wherein the holding device (70) and/or the dirt collection container device (68) has a window (176) which, when the dirt collection container device (68) is in the second position (140), allows the cleaning of the dirt collection container device (68). An inspection field of view (178) is provided for an operator (38) positioned as intended at the occupant area (32).
