The geopolymer composite material is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 120-180 parts of a mineral admixture; 0.5 to 3 parts of sodium alginate; 180 to 280 parts of an alkali activator; the mineral admixture is metakaolin. The preparation method of the geopolymer composite material comprises the following steps: mixing a mineral admixture, sodium alginate and an alkali activator to obtain mixed slurry, pouring the mixed slurry into a mold, and carrying out sealed maintenance, demolding and continuous maintenance to obtain the geopolymer composite material. By adding the sodium alginate, the mechanical strength of the geopolymer composite material is effectively improved, the geopolymer composite material has higher compactness, the initial setting time and the final setting time of the composite material are shortened, the early strength is remarkably improved, engineering application is facilitated, and good economic and social benefits are achieved.
