The invention discloses an aluminum oxide ceramic based on gel casting and a preparation method thereof.The preparation method of the aluminum oxide ceramic comprises the following steps that materials including powder, a dispersing agent, a plasticizer and a solvent are mixed to be prepared into slurry; preparing an ISOBAM glue solution; adding the prepared ISOBAM glue solution into the slurry, and mixing to obtain ceramic slurry; and carrying out gel casting and sintering treatment on the prepared ceramic slurry to obtain the aluminum oxide ceramic. According to the invention, a two-stage separate slurry preparation process is adopted, the material formula is optimized, the high-dispersion uniform slurry with excellent performance is prepared, and the ceramic material with excellent mechanical properties is obtained.
