The invention relates to a road construction machine (1) in the form of a road paver (2) or a supply vehicle (14) for conveying paving material (B, B ') to the road paver (2), the road construction machine (1) being self-propelled and having a main drive source (3, 3'), a hopper (7, 7 '), at least one working unit (A, A') and at least one electrical device (11, 11 ') for heating the working unit (A, A'), the road construction machine (1) having an energy supply system (16), the invention relates to a road construction machine (1) having at least one electrical energy store (17) which can be charged by means of an electrical current generated outside the road construction machine (1) and which is present on the road construction machine (1) as an internal power source (18) for directly supplying an electrical current to an electrical appliance (11, 11 '). The invention further relates to the use of such an energy store (17) for directly supplying electrical current to electrical appliances (11, 11 ') of a road construction machine (1).
