The invention relates to a concrete block and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: 1) crushing corn straws, and calcining to obtain first corn straw ash; 2) grinding the first corn straw ash to obtain second corn straw ash; 3) soaking the second corn straw ash in a citric acid solution, filtering, and drying a solid component to obtain third corn straw ash; and 4) replacing part of cement with the third corn straw ash to prepare concrete, and preparing the concrete block. The technical problem to be solved by the invention is how to digest and utilize the corn straw, so that effective substances such as oxides contained in the corn straw can be fully utilized, not only can the corn straw be turned into wealth and recycled, but also the strength and other properties of the concrete block can be improved, and meanwhile, air pollution caused by burning of the corn straw can be avoided. Therefore, the device is more practical.
