The invention discloses a 99 castable for prolonging the service life of a launder in low-oxygen copper rod production. The 99 castable comprises the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 7-15% of electric smelting white corundum powder, 5-11% of alpha-Al2O3 superfine powder, 5-11% of electric smelting spinel fine powder, 1-4% of an auxiliary agent, 6-15% of a binding agent, 0.1-0.4% of a water reducing agent and the balance of sintered tabular corundum particles, the preparation method of the 99 castable comprises the following steps: S1, prefabrication; S2, primary mixing; and S3, mixed material preparation. According to the castable prepared by the invention, raw material particles can be in close contact by strictly controlling the raw material types, particle sizes, heat treatment systems and other procedures in each step, and meanwhile, the structural characteristics of different materials and the particle gradation advantages of the raw materials with different particle sizes are utilized; the prepared castable has the advantages of high normal-temperature compression strength, high thermal shock resistance and the like.
