The pavement detection operation area setting method comprises the following steps of: presetting an operation area: taking a closed area enclosed by two side edges, a front end line and a rear end line of a road section as the operation area; setting a first side edge acquisition point: setting a plurality of position acquisition points on the first side edge of the road section, and acquiring the geographic coordinate of each position acquisition point; and a first side edge curve fitting step: performing curve fitting according to the geographic coordinates acquired at the position acquisition points to obtain a fitting curve of the first side edge of the operation area. The obtained boundary curve of the operation area is more accurate, and the requirement for rapidly and reasonably obtaining the curve boundary of the operation area can be met.
