The invention discloses a flame-retardant solid surface material and a preparation method thereof. The high-strength solid surface material is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 32 to 36 parts of polyacrylate resin, 48 to 57 parts of aluminum hydroxide, 0.3 to 0.5 part of cross-linking agent, 0.6 to 0.9 part of curing agent and 0.1 to 0.5 part of pigment. The pigment is selected from at least one of black carbon and titanium dioxide; the polyacrylate resin is prepared by polymerizing acrylate monomers; the acrylate monomer is prepared by reacting a compound shown as a formula (I) with 5-hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid according to a molar ratio of 1: (2-5); the structural formula of the compound shown in the formula (I) is shown in the specification, wherein R1 is selected from C1-C4 straight-chain alkyl or H; the manufactured solid panel has the advantages of being uniform in color and high in impact strength.
