In order to improve the appearance of a luggage compartment (5) provided in a passenger car (1), a bracket hinge device (25) is provided, which has a hinge bracket (35), on which a luggage compartment cover (30) can be mounted, and which is provided for movement between an open position and a closed position through an opening (20) located in a luggage compartment lining (10) of the passenger car (1) and delimited by a wall (15), the hinge bracket (35) is surrounded by a hinge bracket cover (40) which is stationary relative to the hinge bracket (35), and the outer side (47) of the hinge bracket cover (40) has, in the region thereof facing away from the luggage compartment cover (30), a section (49) which widens in the longitudinal direction (L) of the hinge bracket cover (40) and is provided for closing the opening (20) in the open position, according to the invention, the inner side (42) of the hinge bow cover (40) has at least one support section (45) which rests at least partially on the outer side of the hinge bow (35) and which is spaced apart from the widened section (49) of the hinge bow cover (40) when viewed in the longitudinal direction (L) of the hinge bow cover (40).
