The invention relates to a connecting and tensioning method for steel strands, which comprises the following steps: providing a connecting piece, fixing the connecting piece at the end part of a first steel strand, and arranging a second steel strand in a U-shaped groove in a penetrating manner; a concrete layer is formed through pouring, the first steel strand and the second steel strand are embedded in the concrete layer, and a notch is formed in the position, corresponding to the connecting piece, of the concrete layer so that the tensioning end of the second steel strand can be exposed; and an anchor part is provided, the anchor part is installed at the tensioning end of the second steel strand and clamped in the clamping groove, the tensioning end of the second steel strand is tensioned through the jack, then the part, exposed out of the connecting piece, of the second steel strand is tensioned, and the notch is filled and leveled up through concrete. The problem that steel strand connection and tensioning are difficult at the same time is effectively solved, on the basis that two adjacent steel strands are connected, anchoring and tensioning of the steel strands can be achieved, the utilization rate of the ultrahigh-strength retard-bonded prestressed steel strands is increased, the construction cost is reduced, and the construction efficiency is improved.
