Fabrication of rf transparent ceramic composite structures by composition fractionation
The present invention is a method suggesting grading of CMC (Ceramic Matrix Composite) structures as a function of dielectric constant by varying the Solid Load (SL) ratio of each composite layer. The slurry is applied by impregnation into the ceramic fabrics or by coating on the ceramic fibers. The final structure is prepared by stacking prepregs or weaving ceramic fibers having a specific SL ratio, drying, and firing. This method not only ensures thermomechanical and chemical compatibility between the layers, but also results in excellent broadband performance relative to the sandwich structures.
