Fire-reinforced aerogel composition
The present disclosure provides a fire-based reinforced aerogel composition, in particular a durable and easy-to-handle reinforced aerogel composition, having good performance in an aqueous environment, having good insulating properties, and having good properties against fire reaction, combustion, and flame retardant properties. The present disclosure also provides a method of making or making the reinforced aerogel composition. In certain embodiments, the composition has a silica-based aerogel backbone, and the aerogel backbone is reinforced with an open-cell macroporous backbone, and comprises one or more fire additives, where the silica-based aerogel backbone comprises at least one hydrophobically bound silicon, and the fire additives comprise one or more fire additives. And the composition or each composition thereof has the required properties.
