The invention discloses a self-filling type expansion joint device suitable for a long-span bridge, and belongs to the technical field of bridge engineering, the self-filling type expansion joint device comprises fixing assemblies connected with the bridge ends on the two sides of an expansion joint, and a plurality of sliding expansion chains are laid between the two fixing assemblies in a staggered mode; the fixed ends of every two adjacent sliding telescopic chains are staggered and connected with the fixing assemblies on the two sides, the free ends of the sliding telescopic chains extend to the positions below the fixing assemblies on the opposite sides, and supporting steering assemblies allowing the sliding telescopic chains to pass through are arranged at the tops of the fixing assemblies. When the expansion joints are enlarged, the multiple sliding expansion chains which are arranged in a staggered mode can be horizontally spread along the supporting steering assembly to fill gaps between the expansion joints; and when the expansion joint is shrunk, the sliding expansion chain can slide down along the supporting steering assembly under the action of the gravity of the free end. The gap between the two adjacent beam ends can be automatically filled according to the width of the expansion joint, the whole structure is simple and easy to install, the upper surface is smooth and attractive, and it can be guaranteed that vehicles stably pass through.
