The invention relates to the field of water-based mortar, in particular to water-based epoxy mortar and a preparation method thereof. The waterborne epoxy mortar comprises a component A, a component B and a component C. The component A comprises, by mass, 20-40 parts of an epoxy curing agent, 0.5-5 parts of a functional aid and 0.1-2 parts of an anti-mud high-molecular polymer; the component B comprises the following components in parts by weight: 80-100 parts of epoxy resin and 5-10 parts of aliphatic glycidyl ether; and the component C comprises the following components in parts by weight: 20-100 parts of quartz sand, 20-100 parts of cement and 5-10 parts of a fiber additive. According to the waterborne epoxy mortar disclosed by the invention, the mechanical property of the mortar can be effectively improved by adding the epoxy resin, the problems of prolonging the setting time of a cement base material, increasing the soil content and competitive adsorption caused by adding the epoxy resin can be solved, and the overall performance of the mortar is effectively improved; when the mortar is used for preparing concrete and other building materials, the mortar can provide excellent self-stability and mechanical strength supporting effect.
