Techniques relate to methods (500) and systems (100) for dynamic geo-fencing (602) in a worksite environment. In some cases, cameras and sensors are placed on the machine to monitor the work site and automatically create a geo-fence (502) around the machine while the machine is operating. The geo-fence (602) may dynamically change when the machine (604) traverses in the work site. A machine operator or field personnel may receive an alarm (508) as to a person or object approaching a geo-fence surrounding the machine. In some embodiments, the machine is autonomous, semi-autonomous, or remotely controlled from a modular and customized virtual cab (346). A remotely controlled machine may provide full machine maneuverability to a user at a safe distance away from a potentially hazardous environment (502). In some cases, a geo-fence is automatically created to cover a work area (502) based on semi-autonomous commands assigned to a machine.
