The invention belongs to the technical field of building materials, and particularly relates to a high-strength concrete viscosity reduction type polycarboxylate superplasticizer and a preparation method thereof, and the viscosity reduction type polycarboxylate superplasticizer is prepared through an aqueous solution free radical polymerization reaction. The viscosity reduction type polycarboxylate superplasticizer is prepared from the following raw materials: isobutenol polyoxyethylene ether, unsaturated carboxylic acid, unsaturated sulfonate, an ester hydrophobic monomer, an initiator, a chain transfer agent and an alkaline solution. A sulfonic acid group and a hydrophobic ester group with a specific structure are introduced into a polycarboxylic acid molecular structure, so that the adsorption capacity of a polymer is enhanced, the HLB value is reduced, and the effect of reducing the viscosity of concrete is achieved under the action of electrostatic repulsion and steric hindrance. Compared with the prior art, the polycarboxylic acid water reducer has excellent dispersing performance under the condition of low mixing amount, the viscosity of high-strength concrete can be remarkably reduced under the condition of ensuring the workability of the concrete, and the preparation raw materials are wide in source and low in cost and meet the requirement of large-scale production.
