The invention relates to the technical field of municipal administration and rail transit, and provides a smoke prevention device for a metro station atrium and a using method thereof.The smoke prevention device comprises a station hall layer and a platform layer, and part of public areas between the station hall layer and the platform layer are communicated through the atrium; smoke-proof devices capable of preventing gas from flowing and smoke from spreading are arranged on the periphery of the top of the atrium, each smoke-proof device comprises a first fireproof roller shutter and a second fireproof roller shutter which are used for preventing fire smoke from spreading, and the first fireproof roller shutters are located on the entrance and exit sides of a building escalator of the station hall layer. The second fire resisting shutter is located on the non-building escalator entrance and exit side of the station hall layer, and a fixed smoke blocking vertical wall is arranged on the top of the platform layer. By arranging the liftable fireproof roller shutters, the structural characteristics of an original atrium are reserved, smoke is effectively prevented from spreading when the platform is in a fire working condition, and it is guaranteed that the staircases and staircase openings from the station hall to the platform have airflow capable of effectively preventing smoke from spreading to the station hall layer.
