The present invention relates to a cordierite sintered body containing all elements belonging to an element group M1 comprising calcium, magnesium, aluminum, and silicon, the content of the calcium being 0.06-3.40 mass% in terms of oxide, the content of the magnesium being 12.9 mass% or more, the content of element M2, which is a metal element other than the elements belonging to the element group M1, being 1.5 mass% or less, and the content of the element M2 being less than or equal to 0.5 mass% in terms of oxide. The cordierite sintered body has a porosity of 3.0 vol% or less, a four-point bending strength of 170 MPa or more, and a Weibull coefficient of 9.5 or more.
