Impact dissipation bollard
An impact dissipating bollard system includes a vertical strut and a composite energy absorbing deformable core located in a foundation and including a rigid core therein including a rigid core containing a strut receiving aperture and a plurality of flanges therein. The energy-absorbing elastic sheath wraps the rigid core and the plurality of flanges, and the guard pillar system transmits impact energy to the composite energy-absorbing deformable core through the vertical pillars and deforms the composite energy-absorbing deformable core. The second portion of the vertical strut and the composite energy-absorbing deformable core occupy 35% of the total height of the impact-dissipating bollard system and extend a distance below the foundation of less than 80 centimeters, so that the impact-dissipating bollard system is suitable for use in environments with dense subterranean facilities.
