The invention discloses a foundation pit water retaining cofferdam structure and a construction method thereof.The foundation pit water retaining cofferdam structure comprises a water retaining main body layer, an anti-sedimentation reinforced layer, a cohesive soil backfill layer and an anti-seepage reinforcing layer, the water retaining main body layer is arranged on the side, close to water, of an underground diaphragm wall of a foundation pit and located on the anti-sedimentation reinforced layer, and the anti-seepage reinforcing layer is arranged on the side, close to water, of the underground diaphragm wall; the anti-sedimentation reinforced layer is laid on the underwater sludge layer; the cohesive soil backfill layer is arranged between the underground diaphragm wall of the foundation pit and the water retaining main body layer, and the anti-seepage reinforcing layer is arranged on the water facing side of the water retaining main body; the water retaining main body layer comprises a plurality of sectional type soil engineering containers which are stacked into a multi-layer structure, and each sectional type soil engineering container is filled with sand materials. The foundation pit water retaining cofferdam structure is suitable for the foundation pit water retaining effect in the coastal area, and the defects of an existing water retaining cofferdam in the coastal area are overcome.
