The invention discloses a sponge city road drainage system and a construction technology thereof, and relates to the field of road construction technologies, the sponge city road drainage system comprises a drainage road surface, drainage channels arranged on the two sides of the drainage road surface and a water storage tank communicated with the drainage channels, and a filter plate is arranged in the water storage tank and divides the water storage tank into an upper cavity and a lower cavity; the filter plate is provided with a plurality of filter holes which are used for limiting impurities from entering the lower chamber; the water storage tank is provided with a water guide pipe communicated with the upper cavity and further provided with a water pumping pipe communicated with the lower cavity, the water pumping pipe and the water guide pipe are used for being communicated to a drainage channel, and the water pumping pipe is communicated with a water pump used for pumping water in the lower cavity to the drainage channel. The situation that sundries in the water storage tank enter the lower cavity is reduced through filtering of the filtering plate, the water pumping pipe communicates with the lower cavity for pumping, the situation that the sundries in the water storage tank block the water pumping pipe is reduced, and water stored in the water storage tank is taken more stably.
