The invention discloses an energy dissipation and shock absorption device, and relates to the technical field of bridge engineering shock absorption, the device comprises an upper top plate, a lower bottom plate, a displacement amplification assembly and a damping mechanism, the top plate is connected with a main beam, and the lower bottom plate is fixed with a bridge pier; the displacement amplification assembly is arranged between the upper top plate and the lower bottom plate, is connected with the upper top plate and is used for amplifying the swing of the upper top plate relative to the transverse bridge direction of the lower bottom plate; the damping mechanism is arranged on the lower bottom plate and connected with the other end of the displacement amplification assembly so as to provide damping force when the upper top plate swings in the transverse bridge direction relative to the lower bottom plate. The displacement amplifying part is arranged between the upper top plate and the lower bottom plate, so that small relative displacement of the upper top plate relative to the lower bottom plate can be transmitted to the damping mechanism, swing of the main beam in the transverse bridge direction is amplified through the displacement amplifying part, and the damping mechanism is conveniently used for providing damping force to dissipate energy and reduce swing of the bridge in the transverse bridge direction.
