The invention discloses river channel dredging equipment and a dredging method thereof.The river channel dredging equipment comprises a dredging support, a bucket and a traction mechanism, the top of the bucket is installed on the dredging support through a rotating pair, and the bucket is at least provided with a slurry inlet and two traction points used for changing the posture; the traction mechanism at least comprises two opposite traction rope free ends, the two traction rope free ends bypass a guide mechanism arranged on the dredging support and then are connected to two traction points of the bucket, and the positions of the guide mechanism and the traction points are selected, so that when one traction rope pulls the dredging support to move forwards, the traction rope free ends of the two traction ropes are connected to the two traction points of the bucket. The bucket is inclined downwards in a silt shoveling posture to be tightly attached to and block the side part of the opening of the slurry storage bin, so that a temporary silt storage space is formed in the slurry storage bin; and when the other pulling rope pulls the desilting support to move reversely, the bucket is lifted upwards to expose the opening of the slurry storage bin, so that the sludge in the temporary storage space flows out through the exposed opening side, and the sludge is dumped.
