The invention relates to the technical field of traffic engineering, in particular to a double-layer steel sheet pile cofferdam and a construction method thereof.The cofferdam comprises a plurality of first double-layer steel sheet piles and a plurality of second double-layer steel sheet piles which are connected with each other to form a closed-loop structure; the first double-layer steel plate pile comprises two first steel plates and a first connecting plate, the first steel plates and the second steel plates are arranged in a staggered mode in the length direction, the opening directions are opposite, first lock catches are arranged on the two sides of each first steel plate, and the adjacent first steel plates are connected in an inserted mode through the first lock catches; each second double-layer steel plate pile comprises two second steel plates and a second connecting plate, the sections of the two second steel plates are arc-shaped, second lock catches are arranged on the two sides of each second steel plate, and the adjacent first steel plates and second steel plates are connected in an inserted mode through the first lock catches and the second lock catches to form a double-layer closed-loop structure, so that connection is tighter; the water flow hedging effect during single-side leakage is effectively avoided, the overall stress balance is guaranteed, the bearing capacity of the cofferdam is further improved, and the waterproof and leaking stoppage effects are guaranteed.
