The invention provides an ultralow-carbon magnesia carbon brick and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of refractory materials. The ultralow-carbon magnesia carbon brick is prepared from the following raw materials: 60-70% of fused magnesia aggregate; 20%-30% of magnesia powder; 1%-3% of an antioxidant; 1.0%-2.0% of expanded graphite; 0.5%-1.0% of carbon-containing resin powder; 0.5%-1.0% of nano carbon black; and 1%-4% of liquid phenolic resin. According to the invention, the volume of the expanded graphite is large, the expanded graphite can be filled in the magnesia carbon brick more fully, a continuous carbon chain can be formed more easily, and the usage amount of graphite is reduced; the nano carbon black is good in dispersity and can be tightly combined with other raw materials in a magnesia carbon brick matrix, so that the matrix is prevented from being wetted by slag, and the erosion resistance of the magnesia carbon brick is improved; the carbon-containing resin powder can soften and seal pores in a matrix in a high-temperature state, so that the compactness of the magnesia carbon brick is improved, and the strength, the high-temperature breaking strength and the erosion resistance of the magnesia carbon brick are further improved.
