The invention provides a river embankment and bank slope protection device which comprises a slope protection structure, the slope protection structure comprises a shell, mounting strips are arranged on the inner wall of the shell, supporting strips are arranged at the tops of the mounting strips, steel mesh layers are arranged on the inner walls of the supporting strips, and a placement structure is arranged at the top of each steel mesh layer. The river levee body is excavated into a step shape through an excavator, then the slope protection structures are sequentially placed on the top of the river levee body, the slope protection structure on the upper layer is pressed in the slope protection structure on the lower layer, and the slope protection structures are stably fixed; and the slope protection structure is quickly mounted on the top of the river bank body.
