The invention provides a foamed ceramic material based on low-silicon high-calcium iron tailings, the foamed ceramic material comprises the following raw materials by weight: 20-60 wt% of low-silicon high-calcium iron tailings, 24-60 wt% of a lean material, 15-35 wt% of a plastic material, and 0.1-0.5 wt% of a foaming agent, and the invention also provides a preparation method of the foamed ceramic material, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: S1, finely grinding the raw materials, and then carrying out mechanical dry mixing; s2, adding water, dispersing and uniformly mixing to obtain slurry, and drying and forming the slurry to obtain a blank; and S3, sintering the blank, cooling, and cutting to obtain the foamed ceramic material. According to the invention, the high-calcium iron tailings are used as a flux material, so that fluxing materials such as feldspar and the like can be completely replaced to reduce the production cost and reduce the consumption of a foaming agent, the firing temperature can be greatly reduced, and other solid waste materials are matched, so that the problems of resource utilization of bulk mining wastes and high value of products are solved.
