The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock, in particular an electric lock, having a locking mechanism (1, 2) which mainly comprises a rotary latch (1) and a pawl (2). The motor vehicle lock also has an electric opening drive (3) for the locking mechanism (1, 2) and an energy store (4) for the emergency supply of the opening drive (3) during emergency operation and thereby for the emergency opening of the locking mechanism (1, 2). According to the invention, the locking mechanism (1, 2) is held in its "open" state during emergency operation and during or after the opening process by means of the opening drive (3).
