The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a three-dimensional structure (2) which can be deployed in a compact first configuration and in at least one deployed second configuration, comprising: a first step, executed by a computer, of generating a so-called alignable mesh (14) from an initial discretized quadrilateral mesh; the alignable mesh (14) being obtained by deforming a quadrilateral of the initial mesh; if the grid can be deformed into a linear configuration by angularly modifying the grid at the nodes of the grid and by keeping the side length constant, the grid is referred to as being alignable; a second step of manufacturing a three-dimensional structure (2) in its first compact configuration, which three-dimensional structure (2) is manufactured from said generated alignable mesh (14) and in its first compact configuration, in the form of a nearly linear preform, which preform comprises elastically deformable beams (11), the nodes of the alignable mesh (14) define the positions of connectors that engage the beams (11) of the preform together.
